Turkish Airline's is facing a strike threat, reported CNN. The flagship airline of Turkey faces the possible strike after negotiations with the country's aviation workers union didn't go through. If the strike occurs it would go into effect at 3 a.m. local time on Wednesday said the President of the Turkish Civilian Aviation Union, Atilay Aycin.

Turkish Airlines also issued a statement that said they have not reached an agreement on the dispute because of uncompromising and imposing approaches of the Union."

"All of Turkish Airlines' functions will stop, no passenger flights, no cargo services, no connecting flights," Hava-Is president Atilay Aycin said via phone to CNN."All sectors starting with the tourism industry who are doing business with Turkish Airlines will be affected."

The union which is also known as Hava-Is, represents some 14,000 workers. The union has been negotiating salaries and rest periods for long flights and the union's presidents say currently, Turkish Airlines does not meet their standards for those key points.

Reuters reported that Hava-Is had set a May 15 deadline date to resolve the dispute. Mustafa Yagci who is the union's general secretary said to Reuters that there "looks to be a high probability of a strike." He also added that the union's chairman has talked with Turkish Airlines Chairman Hamdi Topcu but there hasn't been any resolution.

"Management stands where it stood five months ago," added Yagci.

"The airline has extended routes to new countries, in conjunction with bilateral diplomatic overtures from Ankara," reported CNN. "But the airline has also been caught up in the culture wars that frequently pit Turkey's ruling pious Muslim elite against more secular segments of Turkish society.

This month, Turkish Airlines attracted international attention when the company announced it was banning certain shades of lipstick and nail polish among flight attendants."
