Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson underwent successful-emergency surgery on Monday to repair three hernial tears that he suffered while wrestling John Cena during WrestleMania earlier this month.

"Surgery a success! Dr repaired 3 hernial tears (fun pain). Superman is on the mend.. #WeFallWeRise," Johnson tweeted Tuesday with a photo of himself (above) in a hospital bed, flexing in a Superman T-shirt.

Over the past couple of years the 40-year-old actor/wrestling great has arguably been the hardest working man in entertainment, but now, in order for the tears to heal properly, he might have to take it easy for a while and according to his publicist, Alan Nierob, who spoke to the Associated Press, Johnson is ding just that.

"He is recovering at home," Nierob said.

"The April 7 match, watched by 80,000 people at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, was apparently tough on the action star. The operation caused Johnson to miss the 'Pain & Gain' premiere in Los Angeles where director Michael Bay issued his well-wishes from the red carpet," reported People.

"In the middle of last night's Wrestlemania match I tore my abdomen & abductor muscles off the bone. Just part of the job," he wrote April 8, adding, "But as we know... It's all about #JustBringIt. WWE Universe, THANK YOU for all the love & well wishes. Means everything to me. #LeaveItAllInTheRing. [sic]."

In his latest film, Johnson stars as a body-building-workout nut, alongside Mark Wahlburg and Rebal Wilson who get tangled up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong.

Speaking to E!, director Michael Bay jokingly said, "Dwayne's hurt tonight. He was pushing it too hard. [He] needs to grow up and stop wrestling 300-pound men."

"Pain & Gain" opens up nationally on April 26, which will be followed by "Fast & Furious 6," a film in which Johnson plays DSS agent Luke Hobbs.
