Bear Grylls is probably best known as the host of tv show "Man vs. Wild" in which he is put in wild locations around the globe and fends for himself by using his wilderness techniques. He does everything from hunt animals to eat bugs and scale mountains. Now the survival guru is starring in an Air New Zealand in-flight safety video.

The video will air on Air New Zealand's Airbus A320 fleet.

"New Zealand is a country that I have always called my home away from home and I feel so proud to be involved with this campaign," Grylls said to tvnz.co.nz.

The video called, "The Bear Essentials of Safety" which is about four minutes long shows Bear highlighting emergency flight safety routines while doing his signature wilderness things such as running through New Zealand's stunning countryside-the Routeburn track which is a hiking trail in the South.

The Huffington Post reported that this is the first in-flight video that the airline has made, which is shot outside. In 2012 they also had a Hobbit-themed safety clip in commemoration of the movie "The Hobbit."

The Department of Coverservation (DOC) worked with Air New Zealand on the project. They said to tvnz.co.nz, "Air New Zealand is also actively supporting our biodiversity and species translocation programmes around the country, including the Routeburn Track where the video was shot."

In October, it was announced that Grylls will star in his own reality tv show called "Get Out Alive." The show will feature two teams of competitors trying to survive in the wild and will premiere next summer.

The LA Times reported that Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming at NBC, said, "To meet Bear is to meet a force of nature. He is a magnetic and charismatic talent, whose infectious enthusiasm for adventure inspires people to push themselves beyond their limits. These contestants are in for the ride of their lives!"

According to United Press International Grylls said, "'Get Out Alive' will be raw, tough and unrelenting, but it will also inspire and teach the essentials that one day may just save your life. The goal is to empower people with the ultimate in both survival and teamwork, and that brings incredible reward ... but first there must be some pain."
