Microsoft's Xbox Project Scorpio clearly has the advantage over Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro when it comes to power, but other than that, it's hard to tell who will clearly win. Microsoft's latest console, though, could help push the sales of the Xbox One ahead of the PlayStation 4.

According to a report from ExpertReviews, the specs for Microsoft's latest console show that Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro will have a hard time competing with it. The company has been touting the Xbox Project Scorpio as the most powerful console ever made, showing that Microsoft is focusing on valuing power and performance.

The report said that Microsoft is putting a custom eight-core CPU that clocked at 2.3GHz in the Xbox Project Scorpio, together with 12GB of GDDR5 RAM. The console also has a GPU with 6 TFLOPS of power, which will allow for a true 4K gaming performance.

The PlayStation 4 Pro, on the other hand, only has a GPU of 4.2 TFLOPS, which is why Sony needed to use the checkerboarding technique to achieve a gaming experience that's similar enough to 4K resolution. The console is also powered by an eight-core x86 AMD Jaguar CPU that clocked at 2.1GHz and 8GB of RAM.

But specs isn't the only thing that the Xbox Project Scorpio has beat Son, as it looks like the console is also helping its predecessor, the Xbox One, in terms of sales performance. Express reports that analyst Mat Piscatella of NDP thinks the console has the potential to help the Xbox One.

"I think Scorpio has the potential to push Xbox One sales ahead of the PS4 in the US in 2017," he said. He adds that he also believes the Xbox Project Scorpio will do well in the U.S. market when it launches, which is slated for holiday 2017.

Though he admits the console is targeting a niche market, he believes that will be the key to its success. Check out the video for more about Xbox Project Scorpio.
