Going on a cruise ship is an ultimate destination. The stops at beautiful cities and coasts are something to look forward to, but to some, the journey itself is where the actions are all at.

Most cruise ships are equipped with top-notch facilities and attractions similar to a resort or a hotel. But some cruise ships tend to take it to the next level, often having some pretty over-the-top amenities you couldn't find anywhere else. Here are some of the most awesome cruise ship attractions ever:

The Lawn Club, Celebrity Cruises. Being on a ship means you're right in the middle of the ocean, but what if you can also play golf or go lawn bowling on board? USA Today reports that Celebrity Cruises have a "Lawn Club" where real grass is installed on the back of Celebrity Solstice. Suddenly have the urge to have an old-fashioned picnic? Be their guest.

Virtual Balcony Cabins, Royal Caribbean. Balcony Cabins usually have the best view when staying at a cruise ship, however, it's much more expensive than staying at an indoor cabin. Royal Caribbean addressed this problem and came up with the idea of installing what they call a "virtual balcony cabin", where an indoor cabin is equipped with a floor to ceiling, 80-inch LED screen that can display real-time images of the views outside. According to A Luxury Travel Blog, it is available on Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas.

FlowRider, Royal Caribbean. FlowRider is a surfing simulator first introduced to Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas. Guests loved it so much that it was also installed in other sister ships, such as Allure of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas. Guests take turns in trying their luck on the surfboard and to practice some moves as well, just in time when they encounter real time waves at the ocean.

Movies Under The Stars, Princess Cruises. Onboard the Grand Princess Ship and looking for a relaxing activity? Coax your loved one to go the poolside and watch a good movie under the stars. This feature is a staple on most vessels of the Princess Cruises, and the movie screen is so big with state-of-the-art sound system that you won't mind the roaring sound of the ship or the ocean while watching your favorite movie.
