Smartphones have become so adept in many things it does that it's taken over even people's lifestyles. That's why for the internet-weary, owning a dumb phone can be revolutionary. Take a real vacation without checking your email every minute and really take a break from the hustle and bustle.

New kinds of phones have broken the market. These phones don't boast a range of new features nor do they give a glimpse of what the things of the future might look like. In fact, they're making heads turn because they're doing just the opposite. These so-called dumb phones do basic stuff, they remind you of simpler times, but at least they look enticingly slick.

Just like the new dumb phone called the Light Phone, according to MIT Technology Review. The little gadget is only as big as a credit card with over eight and a half centimeters in length and a width of less than half a centimeter. You can make and receive calls using the Light Phone and that about sums it up.

It has its own SIM card which directs calls made to your smartphone number to be forwarded to the Light Phone through an online server. This dumb phone can even make it look like you're making your calls from the smartphone. What these all simply means is you can now step into a world of no distractions and guilt-free, knowing that those important calls will still reach you while you are on travel.

The Light Phone is not the simplest phone, however, as the "phone away from phone" needs to be connected to a computer just to set up your nine speed-dial contacts. Call forwarding needs multiple dials and the battery life isn't that long for a dumb phone. Its battery life can last a total of 20 days and work best as a second phone, according to The Telegraph. If the little snags don't bother you, then you can give the Light Phone a try for only $150 and a $5 monthly fee.
