The third-largest city in Italy-Milano or Milan, is a hub for fashion, museums, history, religion and sports.

Whether traveling in style, or on a budget, Milano has something for everybody.

Upon arriving at Malpensa International Airport, getting to the city-center doesn't take long:

One can take a taxi service, but be aware of the price given before entering as the drivers have a reputation of scamming tourists.

For a fee of €11, one-way, a bullet train leaving Malpensa's terminal 1 to Milano's Milano Cadorna, which is located just 10 minutes outside of the city-center is another option.

Those heading to other destinations before Milano, like Turino, a local shuttle bus, connecting Malpensa to Milano Central and Milan Garibaldi Stations is the way to go, and it won't cost much either. The shuttle bus fare between Gallarate and Malpensa is €1.50 to/from Terminal 1, €1.25 for Terminal 2.

Once situated, the exploring can commence and the first stop is Duomo and the Milano Cathedral.

From the architecture to the sculptures and the mass size, it is a must see. Inside, one will also find a museum, which, unlike most museums, isn't housed by a private collection, the art is ever-changing, but all, in one way or the other, reflects on the history and culture of it's people.

There are also musical events as well. To stay up-to-date on the calendar of events, pick up a guide from a local vendor or check out the website.

After the cathedral, a fun-family outing can be had at the aquarium. Located on Via Girolamo, Gadio, 2, a short walk from the Lanzo Brera metro stop, is home to many exotic fish and local species.

However, a trip to Milano wouldn't be right without some shopping.

Recognized as one of the internationally fashion destinations, home to many Italy designers, like Giorgio Armani, Valention, Gianni Versace and Gucci, just to name a few, fashionistas flock here from all corners of the globe.

Fashion Week attracts many celebrities-don't be shocked to run into Salma Heyek or Tom Cruise.

Nightlife is on another level as well. From the light shows, to the foam parties, the exotic women and men, if nightlife is the thing to do, Milano is the place to be.

Milano is also home to two of the most historic soccer teams in the world-AC Milan and Inter Milan-no trip would be complete without taking in a match.  To do so, just hop on the Tram 16.

Heed this warning before planning a trip-during the month of August, the entire country is basically closed, the best spring/summer months to visit are April, May and June, in the winter, December and January.
