Fans of "Rick and Morty" know that ever since August of 2015, Season 3 has been confirmed. Writing for the upcoming season started in November of the same year, and we all have expected for Season 3 to be aired in 2016. Almost two years after it has been confirmed, Season 3 may really finally happen soon.

According to Celebeat, the upcoming season is going to have 14 episodes and a new group of writers has been hired for the sitcom. The show's creators said, though, that they still don't have a specific release date yet, but many speculate that it could be this June.

Co-creator Dan Harmon jokingly said that "Rick and Morty" Season 3 is late because of him. He explained that the new writers hired are based on gender equity and that in the writer's room, what's important is balance and not representation.

Harmon said in a previous interview that there is a craving for gender balance that they never had, but he is proud that they didn't compromise themselves following that craving. He added that the new group had a positive effect.

It is not known as to how far into production Season 3 already is, and fans are dying to get a clear update. It can be remembered that last year, one of the writers revealed the recording for the first episode already started, and weeks after, the script for the third episode was tweeted. We can only hope that the show has done at least half of the Season 3 episodes already.

Paste Magazine has previously reported that fans expected for the show to be back in March. However, it is reassuring to know that the creators are working hard to make "Rick and Morty" Season 3 worth the long wait. The last episode of Season 2 showed Mr. Poopybutthole saying that the show will return a year and a half after. If that is to be believed, "Rick and Morty" Season 3 could really return soon.
