"Deadpool 2" writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick revealed the kind of traits that they are looking for the actor who will be playing the character Cable in the movie. They also revealed that they are already close to identifying who it is and will soon reveal it.

According to a report from ComicBook, the two writers provided the update about the mutant character during a press event of the upcoming film "Life." Reese mentioned that they have a "short, short list" to choose from.

Wernick said that the production for "Deadpool 2" will be starting in a couple of months. So they will soon start announcing the casts for the said movie.

As for what kind of trait they are looking for the actor to play Cable, Reese said it has to be someone "intimidating, scary, a great foil opposite the lunacy." He said that the actor should also be "funny but in a more serious way." Reese also adds that the actor should also be physically imposing.

Wernick also mentioned that the actor playing Cable in "Deadpool 2" should also be able to carry a franchise. He said that "X-Force" is "coming up" and the mutant is head of that team, so the actor has to be someone "who can also command a movie franchise."

Screen Rant reported that some of the actors to be in the running for the role are Stephen Lang, Pierce Brosnan, Russell Crowe, Nathon Fillion, and David Harbour. Michael Shanon was supposed to be part of the list, he was even rumored to have tested for the role, but can't be part of the movie due to a conflict with his schedule.

And with "Deadpool 2" scheduled to start filming in the summer of 2017, it will only be a matter of time before all the casts for the movie are revealed. The movie is scheduled for release on January 12, 2018. Check out the official trailer for "Deadpool 2."
