"Shades of Blue", a police drama series that cast Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta has been renewed for the third season at NBC. It was officially announced by the network itself on Friday that the series earned its compelling renewal. NBC also added that it was made possible because of the star's dedication and hard work which made it land to another season.

The series features Lopez who plays the role of Harlee Santos. She is a single mother and at the same time, a passionate detective of the Brooklyn detectives. Their team is led by Lt. Mark Wozniak which will be played by Liotta. He oftentimes led the team outside the limitations of the law in order to protect their own precinct, Variety reported.

Aside from Lopez and Liotta, the series will still cast Drea de Matteo, Dayo Okeniyi, Vincent Laresca, Hampton Fluker, Sarah Jeffrey and Gino Anthony Pesi. On the other hand, the show will still be handled by showrunner Jack Orman while at the same time, Lopez will serve as the executive producer alongside Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina, Ryan Seacrest and Nina Wass.

As per Deadline, "Shades of Blue" also has its new time slot from Thursday to Sunday and it will be aired on the 10 PM slot. Apparently, the series won the heart of many viewers. It has an average of 5.0 million viewers and 1.0 among adults from ages 18-49. This has been considered as a solid linear number for a certain 10 PM drama series.

It can be recalled that it has debuted their season 2 on March 5 and it opened up a rating of 0.98 in key adults. The series has definitely added a notable viewership from its previous seasons. As of now, its viewers are still growing from 1.6 rating and 7.8 million viewers in Live+3.
