American Airlines Partners with Qatar Airways in Codeshare Program

American Airlines has partnered up with Qatar Airways, making Middle East travel even easier. USA Today reported that American has made a deal with the Doha-based airline to "codeshare" on each others flights. This means that flights schedules will improve and connection times, according to American.

The deal will mean that they two airlines will codeshare on flights between the U.S. and Doha and flights connection at European centers such as London and Paris as well as flights to the U.S.

"Our extensive codeshare relationship with Qatar Airways will provide our customers with easy, premium access when traveling to and from the Middle East and beyond," Kurt Stache, American's Vice President, Strategic Alliances, said in a statement to USA Today. "This new codeshare relationship with Qatar is another example of how American is focused on building its global network through closer coordination with its alliance partners around the world."

This is also good news for American Airlines AAdvantage program members as they can build up miles on flights operated by Qatar Airways.

The American Airlines website states codesharing "allows American to directly sell another carrier's flight using an AA code and flight number. American codeshares on select quality carriers, including most oneworld® carriers and our regional affiliates, American Eagle and AmericanConnection."

USA Today reported that customers can book travel on codeshare flights on February 10 for fllights beginning on Feb. 26. Both Qatar and American are part of the oneworld alliance.

Customers can begin booking travel on codeshare flights as early as Feb. 10 for travel beginning Feb. 26.

Both are members of the oneworld alliance. Other airlines in the oneworld alliance include British Airways, airberlin, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Qantas, Royal Jordanian, S7 Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and SriLankan Airlines.
