The shiny Tapu Koko in "Pokemon Sun and Moon" is one of the hardest Pokemon to catch. Here is a quick rundown of tips and tricks on how to get one for free.

For the first time, Game Freak is giving away the shiny Tapu Koko to "Pokemon Sun and Moon" players for free through a serial code. Unfortunately, the serial codes provided are only available to 7/11 stores in Japan. Players can redeem the code starting March 17 until April 9, 2017. The code according to Siliconera would contain the said Pokemon with, perhaps, a perfect IV and hold an unknown item. Instead of the standard orange and yellow base color, the event Pokemon reportedly would have peach and black color.

Even though Game Freak will dispense the special codes for the shiny Tapu Koko to "Pokemon Sun and Moon" exclusively in Japan, they would still work in the game irrespective of the region. For players who wish to own a Shiny Tapu Koko, they can look for players in Japan who are willing to sell their codes. The codes if sold online does not come cheap, however. Aside from that, sellers might also consider the rarity of the Pokemon Tapu Koko as well as its legendary status.

The legendary Pokemon Tapu Koko of "Pokemon Sun and Moon" can be found at the Altar located in the Ruins of Conflict after completing the main story, says Seribii. Only Level 60 players can encounter the said Pokemon at any time of day. In addition, this Pokemon can only be caught once in the game. It is described as the guardian deity of Melemele Island that overflows with curiosity and that it confuses its enemies by flying rapidly for the eye to follow.

In addition, the shiny Tapu Koko Pokemon of the "Pokemon Sun and Moon" has the abilities that make it appropriate for competitive battles. For one, it has Electric Surge that boosts the power of Electric Pokemon. Furthermore, it can also summon thunderclouds and stores lightning inside its body.
