A man on an Icelandair flight from Iceland to New York was so drunk that he had to be taped to his seat by fellow passengers because he tried to choke a fellow passenger and kept screaming that the plane was going to crash.

Andy Ellwood was a passenger on the flight with the drunk man. He took a photo of the man and posted it to his Tumblr blog with the following message.

"Passenger drank all of his duty free liquor on the flight from Iceland to JFK yesterday. When he became unruly, (i.e. trying to choke the woman next to him and screaming the plane was going to crash), fellow passengers subdued him and tie him up for the rest of the flight. He was escorted off the flight by police when it landed. "

The drunk passenger was spitting on other people and threatening them about two hours into the flight. Passengers and crew had enough and gagged the man and taped him to his chair for the remainder of the flight so he could stop his unruly behavior, the New York Post reports.

The man was arrested and taken to a hospital in Queens, New York when the flight landed at JFK. Strangely he was not prosecuted because passengers wouldn't tell police any details about the man's behavior, The Post reports.

This wasn't the only drunken flying incident on Thursday. An American Eagle pilot was arrested at  Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport for failing a breathalyzer test.

"Somebody detected the smell of what they believed to be alcohol on the pilot's breath and notified authorities," airport spokesman Patrick Hogan said, according to the Post.

Kolbjorn Jarle Kristiansen, of Raleigh, NC, was taken to a local hospital after being arrested for flying under the influence. He also failed a blood-alcohol contest test. He has since been suspended.

Drunk incidents on planes are pretty common and they never seem to end well. Just yesterday a British Airways flight was forced to make an emergency landing due to two drunk women who tried to storm the cockpit.

In September, a businessman was so drunk that he started handing out cash to passengers on his plane and later ate his cell phone sim card.

Also in September, a drunk male model was arrested after he tried harassed passengers on a United Airlines flight and even tried to make a woman kiss him.
