Tim Burton's exhibit at Seoul Museum of Art (SeMa) opens on Dec. 12. The exhibit which was at MoMa spans works from his childhood to his present day career. The show has toured in New York, Los Angeles, Melbourne and Paris.

CNN reports that the Tim Burton exhibit in New York that debuted in 2009 was the third most popular show in MoMA's entire history. First and second were the Picasso and Matisse shows.

For the new Seoul show, there are approximately 100 new pieces on display, reports CNN, making the total 860 pieces showing at SeMa. The new pieces include a new section which is about his new film, "Frankenweenie."

The show which will run through April 14 is the first time it has traveled to Asia.

The exhibit includes pieces from his childhood to student work at the California Institute of Art to sets and costumes from his many films.

SeMa's website states, "is well known for seamlessly combining fantasy with reality with a dash of dark humor. His movies have attracted a cult following and earned him a reputation as a true artist. This exhibition will feature 862 of his works including drawings, paintings, short films, sculptures, music and costumes that have been used in the making of his feature-length movies.  "

SeMa will also screen the movie "Hansel and Gretel" which was a film with an all-Asian cast produced by Disney and only shown once.

MoMa curator Ron Magliozzi said to CNN, "We're very excited that we're showing 'Hansel and Gretel' in an Asian country."

Burton said in a press conference that "It was very strange for me to see this exhibition come together." And that, "It is very hard for me to watch my own movies, so it was even stranger to show these things that no one was meant to see."I feel so close to each thing."
