Denzel Washington is dead. At least that's what the Internet is saying. However "Flight" actor didn't die. He's just the victim of an internet death hoax.

Global Associated News, which is notorious for starting false celebrity death rumors, says "Actor Denzel Washington is reported to have died shortly after a snowboard accident earlier today - December 11, 2012.

The site claims that Washington died in a snowboarding incident at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland.

"Witnesses indicate that Denzel Washington lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed," the report reads. "Denzel Washington was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash. The actor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in his death."

Since there are so many details to the accident, its easy to believe that its real, but Global Associated News creates fake news reports.
A message at the bottom of the site reads: "FAKE... THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes!"

Those who are looking for more proof of his death may have come across the Necropedia page that says:

"Denzel Washington is dead. Denzel Washington, born on December 28, 1954 in Mount Vernon, was an American actor and director. He died on December 12, 2012 at the age of 57.
Tributes have poured in from across the world."

December 12 hasn't happened yet. Necropedia shows an "anticipated obituary," which is "an obituary written BEFORE the death of a person. It is common for news agencies to keep pre-written obituary for public figures, famous and high-profile people who are still alive."

Washington is not dead.

Pranksters have been trying to kill off Washington for several months. This snowboarding death rumor was going around in late August as well.

Those on Twitter are starting to believe the rumor as more and more people discuss it and question whether or not it's really true. Examples of some Tweets include:

"Wait My Man Denzel Washington Died !!!???"

"My mom comes running in my room yelling "omg, is it true that denzel washington died?" Me: idk, you tell me"

"God Please don't let Denzel Washington be dead"

"R.I.P DENZEL WASHINGTON."

Washington isn't the only star to die in a snowboarding accident in Zermatt, Switzerland. Jim Carrey had the same death hoax going around last week.  Adam Sandler reportedly died in the same exact way last month Actor Eddie Murphy had the same exact cause of death in yet another death hoax, multiple times.

Some other celebrities who became victims of a death hoax in recent months include TV host Jerry Springer, musician Skrillex, Rapper Lil WayneActor Vince Vaughn, Tom Kenny, the voice behind SpongeBob Squarepants, country singer Taylor Swift, legendary actor Morgan Freeman, Comedian Bill Cosby, Alfonso Ribeiro aka Carlton from the Fresh Prince, and Bill Nye the Science Guy have all been victims of death hoaxes within the past few weeks. All of these celebrities are just fine
