The second season to the Netflix original documentary-series "Making a Murder" could possibly be released later this year, according to the entertainment company's spokesperson. Additionally, Netflix Vice President Cindy Holland has revealed that the series creators, Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi are currently in Manitowac County in Wisconsin to film for the show's Season 2.

The spokeswoman, whose name was not disclosed, reportedly told People that she expects to see episode before the end of the year, but added that there are no launch dates set at the moment. Holland told USA Today via Realscreen that they are deferring to Demos and Ricciardi on when the story will be ready. She added that very few people inside Netflix know about the details of what they are getting as they want to keep things that way because the case is still ongoing.

The first season of "Making a Murder" had 10 episodes and began airing in late 2015. It examined the notorious case of Steven Avery, who was convicted of the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach in 2005. Avery asserts that he was framed for Halbach's murder as retribution for a lawsuit he filed against Manitowac County worth $36 million. The authorities allegedly convicted him wrongfully for a sexual assault case which he served 18 years in prison before being exonerated in 2003.

The first season centered on the murder trials and eventual conviction of Bradley and his nephew, Brendan Dassey, who confessed to the crime and implicated his uncle when he was 16 years old. However, a few months ago, a judge overturned the conviction of Dassey and ordered his release, which the state has appealed. Dassey remains in prison as the appeal is ongoing. Both men have since maintained their innocence and claims that the real killer of Halbach continues to walk as a free man.
