Drug smugglers get pretty creative in the ways that they attempt to transport drugs, but they are aren't smart about it. Recently, a woman at Vancouver International Airport was found carrying condoms full of heroin inside her body and she ingested them.

The unnamed woman was returning to Canada on Nov. 6, when she was found to be smuggling drugs into the country. Customs officials thought the woman seemed suspicious.

They discovered that she was trying to smuggle heroin, so they arrested her and she was taken to the hospital. Using an X-ray, doctors found that the woman had a blockage after she ingested and inserted heroin inside 51 condoms into her body, according to the Calgary Herald.

The heroin-filled condoms were removed from her body. Doctors say she would have died if she didn't receive medical help.

"Ingesting narcotics to evade detection is a practice that is extremely dangerous for the courier, regardless of how well the pellets are wrapped," said Nicole Goodman, chief of airside and special enforcement operations, according to the Calgary Herald. "It is a life-threatening situation that requires immediate medical intervention."

This incident came just two days after two young men were also caught trying to smuggle drugs at the Vancouver airport. Customs officials became suspicious of the men when they had inconsistent responses to routine questioning.

The two men, who were trying to go to Australia, were instead detained and taken to a hospital. Doctors found that the ingested large pellets of methamphetamines. The pellets were starting to deteriorate. The men gas to receive emergency surgery to remove the pellets.

About 229 pellets were recovered from one of the men, while the other had swallowed 79 pellets.  Together, the pellets contained 770 grams of methamphetamines.

While swallowing drugs may not be the best idea, even the more creative drug smugglers get caught. Last month, two women were arrested after they were caught smuggling cocaine in their hair pieces.
