Two key persons in the gaming industry have expressed their positive impressions and outlook on the Nintendo Switch. Drew Thaler, formerly of Sony and now with Naughty Dog, and Xavier Poix of Ubisoft, gave their thoughts on Nintendo's system.

There have been a lot of misgivings posted about the console. Although many people seem to be looking forward to the arrival of the upcoming gaming system, there are others who have expressed concerns about the lack of launch games for the Switch and that its price may be too high.

According to gaming website GameSpot, Ubisoft executive Poix gave his views on the price of the gaming hardware. He compared the upcoming hybrid system with pricey high-end smartphones.

He said that people are currently spending 800 euros on a new iPhone. It shows that people want to spend more money than before on very high end, interesting new products that are mobile or portable.

He added that he was not saying that a lower price was not good for the console. He believes however that Nintendo can be depended on to ensure that games on the system are compelling enough to justify its price.

Gaming website GamingBolt reported that Thaler, who was a hardware and software engineer for Sony, and created the PlayGo as well. He was also one of the key architects for the PS4 storage system. Now, he does programming for Naughty Dog.

He posted his views about the Nintendo Switch on Twitter. He feels that the game system will sell easily because its design allows for a straightforward price reduction. The developer said that the Switch has a holiday price drop already built into it. Take out the dock and charging grip and they've got a handheld product.

Thaler believes that the console is set to do great. He said that the system is exactly what he expected, a product that is smartly designed. He listed the unique features of the console and said that they hit all of Nintendo's strengths.

The developer posted about the third party support for the console. He noted that although publishers remain cautious, after the system inevitably sells, they will come on board. He feels that publishers are cautious but it is the audience they follow and not vice versa.

Regarding the launch line up of the Switch, which is sparse compared to the Wii U, Poix responded to questions about the lack of launch titles. The Ubisoft executive said that the Wii U had many titles at launch which lacked the quality to engage players.

He believes that Nintendo has taken a smart approach by focusing on quality titles at launch and subsequently releasing prominent titles for every month. He thinks that Nintendo's strategy, which is to have a portfolio of strong games that will be released each month for the Nintendo Switch, is a goood one.
