Many watched the season premiere of Discovery Channel's Gold Rush on October 26 to look for a special code to be entered in a special Gold Rush Giveaway for a $100,000 prize.

On Friday night at 9/8c, Discovery Channel premiered the third season of Gold Rush. The show follows Jack and Todd Hoffman and other gold diggers as they use heavy equipment to try to search for gold to help support their families in this unstable economy.

As part of the premiere, Discovery Channel wanted to give fans a chance of their own to strike gold, without having to do the tiring work. They hosted the "Gold Rush Strike Gold Sweepstakes" with a grand prize of $100,000. All fans had to do was watch the live premiere of the show, where a special entry code was revealed twice.

Those who caught the code then went to the Sweepstakes page, here, to enter it to win. Fans are able to enter by clicking "Register Now." You are then redirected to a form where you can enter your email address and the special code that was revealed during the show.

According to online forums, many had issues while trying to enter the code and some weren't sure where to enter it exactly.

Some who were directed to THIS LINK discussed their issues with trying to figure out where to enter the code. Some said they were shown errors that said "Website cannot be found" and other received "Internal Server Errors," which may have been caused due to and overflow of fans trying to enter the code at the same time.

Those who couldn't figure out where to enter the code or who received the errors were calling the contest a rip off and a scam. Some started posting the code in the forum and on Todd Hoffman's Facebook page, thinking that it might count as an entry.

Once again, for those who are not sure where to enter, Click This Link and click "Register Now" to enter the code.

Upon successfully entering, participants should get a confirmation e-mail saying that they are officially in the running to win the $100,000 prize. The winner will be announced at the end of the second episode of the show on Friday, November 2.

While the contest is open to Discovery Channel subscribers within the 50 states, who has the code, Todd Hoffman hopes the prize goes to a true Gold Rush fan.

"I want one of our real fans in here to win it, not some Johnny come lately," he said on his Facebook Page.

Viewers have until October 28 at 3 a.m. to enter the contest.
