Director of "Overwatch", Jeff Kaplan, has said there will be no planned event to mark Valentine's day. Despite Kaplan spoiling all the fun, fans of the game have looked for ways to spend their time in satisfying their romantic urges.

Vice President for Blizzard Entertainment and Game Director for the multiplayer shooter, Jeffrey Kaplan better known as Jeff Kaplan, has stated in the past that the game publisher had no plans for an event for the romance holiday. He said that although they have plans for this year, they are not planning events for either Easter or Valentine's. They do have events planned but to manage expectations of fans, both holidays are not included in the plans.

According to gaming website GameSpot, the discovery of new voice lines in the game revived the talk of a Valentine's Day event. Reddit user akhanubis shared a post which reported that the most recent PTR update contained a number of voice lines that are not currently used but may be in the future.

Two new voice lines featured Genji and Mercy giving each other chocolates. With Valentine's Day coming up, this hint of a romantic relationship between the two characters from the multiplayer game led many to believe that these additional voice lines suggested that Blizzard was preparing for an event to mark the romance holiday. This idea however was quickly shot down when Jeff Kaplan's previous statement was brought up.

Instead of waiting for a Valentine's Day event or looking for more evidence for that event, players have instead looked to satisfy their romantic yearnings by fantasizing about putting together pairs of "Overwatch" characters in relationships. One of the pair of characters being "shipped" is of course the two main characters found to be giving chocolates to each other, Genji and Mercy.

One of the more popular "ships" has been Tracer and Widowmaker, both female main characters, one whose real name is Lena and and the other Amelie. Blizzard eventually confirmed that Lena identified as lesbian however she was paired with a minor character named Emily.

Other lonely fans of the game have satisfied their romantic cravings by searching for porn. Gaming website Kotaku reported that the search term "Overwatch" ranked in the top 20 search terms of Pornhub, outranking search terms such as "anal."

Kotaku also requested the number of searches for each character from the popular multiplayer game on Pornhub. Tracer topped the list with 2.4 million searches. She was followed by D. Va, Mercy, Widow Maker, and Sombra which rounds out the top 5 of most searches on Pornhub for "Overwatch" characters.
