Evie Farell is just a regular 43 year old mom in Australia who works as a public relations consultant and have 6-year old daughter. But when one of her closest friends died because of cancer at age 42, her perspective in life drastically changed.

She realized that life is too short and so she decided to travel the world with her daughter. With just over 30000 AUD in savings, she and her daughter set off and have traveled to thirteen countries in the past 11 months!

"My girlfriend passed away from cancer. She was the most wonderful, gorgeous woman and she had two children. It was a big reminder to grab life and do everything while you can," she told Daily Mail Australia.

"There's more to life than sitting at a desk every day to earn money to buy stuff. We've travelled for a whole year with one backpack... and there's no way I'm going back to my old way of life now."

Among the countries she and her daughter visited included Asian countries like Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and even to the UK, France and China. They started traveling last February 2016 and have still no intention of going back.

Originally, they planned to travel for just a year, but it has been such an enlightening experience for both of them that Evie decided to extend for another 6 months. Her savings are already gone, but that doesn't stop her. She's still earning from the rent they get from their home in Sydney.

They are now planning to go back to Vietnam so her daughter can go to school for a few months while Evie plans to work for a short while to finance their travels. Just to think, she almost used her savings to install a brand-new kitchen in their home!

"It is so different to how we lived at home, what with me working and Emmie being at school, and all the rush and commitments of life that left us with little time to stop and enjoy each other," Evie said.

"I thought that in 10 years my daughter Emily wouldn't thank me for installing a brand new kitchen and bathroom in our home. She would thank me for filling her early years with amazing experiences, learning and sights and sound from around the world."
