The year 2016 has been overwhelmed with tons of video game releases, and game reviews. If there is a Top 5 Video Game list for 2016 there's also a worst. Some of the games that will be mentioned here are the worst video games of 2016 based on their reviews.

According to Forbes, nothing could top the game "Orc Slayer" for being the worst video game of 2016 and it was just released on July 19, 2016 for PlayStation 4. The game was published by Cooply Solutions LTD, and was negatively criticized by players for its ridiculous first-person shooter game-play. This game earned a Metascore of 15 and earns the Top 1 position on the worst video games of 2016 on our list.

Our Top 2 on the list is "Steel Rivals," which was developed by nuGame for PC and Wii U platforms. Based on the game's reviews the "Steel Rivals" has been worst for its terrible 2D battlefield. It was even reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief of Digitally Downloaded, Matt Sainsbury, and he has nothing good to say about the game at all. The game has earned a Metascore of 19 and deserves to be on the Top 2 on our list for its poor review.

"Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers" is on our Top 3 on the list. The game was released on November 8, 2016 and it was developed by Magic Pockets and was published by GameMill Entertainment for Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms. This game was considered a piece of trash for its game character interaction, and no voice dialogues. Due to the poor features of the game, it has earned a Metascore of 21, which is considerably one of the worst adaptations of all time.

On our Top 4 is the video game "Energy Hook," which has been reviewed negatively. The game was developed by Happion Laboratories for PC and PlayStation 4 platforms, which received a Metascore of 22. The game received poor and negative reviews for its poor game-play, story, and boring features.

Lastly our Top 5 in the list of the worst video games of 2016 is the game "Chasing Dead," which appears to be a futuristic "Left 4 Dead" rip off. The game lacks a vast range of game functions, frame rate issues, and loading screens that cannot be skipped.

Let us make an honorable mention based on a report from Maxim for the worst game of the year titled "No Man's Sky." In fact the game was in high hopes for most people, and it is actually not that awful at all. What really dragged it down were its misleading marketing schemes, and this was all because of the poor decisions by the game's publisher after the game was launched. The space exploration of the game was really something, which was ruined by a buyer who spent $1300 for an early copy of the game reaching vast level. This has also resulted to a big mess for the "No Man's Sky" game history.
