A number of travel bloggers, backpackers, and solo travelers have vowed the possibility of having a 100 dollar travel budget. There are many ways for a hundred dollars to be stretched.

One of the most important things to consider is where to go and it would depend on the length of the trip. A travel blogger has indicated that he prefers going to South East Asia, India or Africa for a good backpacking trip. Although the airfare would definitely cost more than a hundred dollars, this amount can really be stretched significantly while staying in these countries. However, for short journeys, a simple camping, hiking or beach trip can be just fine.

While on the journey, it would be great to wander around town on foot as it is good exercise and is definitely free. Also, consider riding local public transport for far distances, these would definitely cost less than five dollars per ride.

The next aspect to consider is the lodging. There are a number of inns that offer as low as $15 per night that comes with a private room complete with a cozy bed and a bathroom. However, if that is too expensive still, why not look for a dorm type hostel which comes with double decks, a communal kitchen, and a communal bath. These kinds of dorms can go with a price range of about $7 to $8 per night.

Some people, on the other hand, would rather not pay for lodging and, surprisingly, this is still possible through camping or couch surfing. If you are already on the mountainside or the beach, a good camp can bring you close to nature. Nothing too bad about these two because they are not only free, solo travelers can also meet friends that way.

When it comes to keeping the tummy from rumbling, maybe binge eating on local street food isn't too bad. Not only is it a story to tell, it could also bring anyone closer to the culture and a lot of exotic food can be quite delicious. In places around South East Asia and India, a good meal impressively costs less than $3.
