It has been over a month since the Netflix hit series "The Crown" Season 1 ended, and fans can't wait about what Season 2 would offer. Actress Claire Foy previously hinted that the upcoming season will have an entirely new cast, but Netflix has not made a confirmation about this issue yet.

Peter Morgan, the show's creator told People in a recent interview that they are going to focus on the young Charles, his education and Philip's back story. Executive producer, Suzanne Mackie, added that viewers will be able to glance back to Philip's childhood years and how his upbringing has impacted him "as a man, a father and as Prince Consort - which is fascinating."

It has been revealed that the second installment is already filmed, but Foy said it's a little weird that the cast are separated while in production. There is no word if the entire cast will be retained, and if they will be, the production would have to use prosthetics to make Foy, Matt Smith and Vanessa Kirby look older.   Fans would have to wait until next year to know.

Recently, the production team went to South Africa to film part of Philip's Commonwealth tour.  For several months, he will be away from his wife and young family.

ET Canada reported that main actors will be replaced by older actors to make the characters realistic.  Season 2 will tackle more about Prince Phillip's story as well as a larger emphasis on the young Prince Charles. Also, Princess Diana's appearance is something to look forward to, since she will make an appearance towards the end of Season 3.

Season 2 will pick up where the previous season left off, so there will be no long time gap.  The same as before, a decade of the royal's story will be featured.
