Kate Middleton has returned from her Diamond Jubilee Tour in Southeast Asia and is still dealing with the aftermath of her ongoing topless photo scandal. Now, according to various news sources such as the UK's The Sun newspaper, the photographer that took photos of Kate sunbathing was British and police may believe that it was an inside job with help from the chateau staff.

The photographer was reportedly paid by Closer magazine to go and take the shots and was only paid an hourly wage, despite the photos being worth a small fortune.

A French paparrazi, Pascal Rostain, told The Sun that the Brit who took the photos, had been spying on the chateau for days on orders by Closer.  He said to the France Metro newspaper in Lyon, "The irony of this whole thing is that the photographer is an Englishman living in the south of France. These photos were taken on the orders of Closer, who asked him to sit around for several days to take them. For his efforts he did not earn a lot. He was just paid wages for going to take them."

The Chateau d'Autet which in Provence is owned by the Queen's nephew, Viscount Linley, and now staff at the chateau are being questioned by police.

An unnamed source said to The Sun, "This will be visited by detectives who will then have to work out how the photographer came to be there - who alerted him to the presence of the royal couple and where he took the pictures from. This kind of investigation involves interviewing as many potential witnesses as possible."

On Tuesday, Prince William and Kate won a legal battle against Closer which has banned the magazine from printing or republishing the photos. Closer was also demanded to hand over the images to the royals within 24 hours.

Swedish magazine Se och Hor and its sister publication Se Og Hor in Denmark  are the latest magazines to publish the topless photos of Middleton.
