The Apple event that started at 10:00 a.m PST in San Francisco, California has been full of a range of announcements from Apple CEO Scott Cook and Phill Schiller the senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple Inc. with Scott Forstall, senior vice president of iOS Software.

Though there is no live streaming video, from live blogs around the web, we've rounded up-to-the-minute information about the new iPhone that was revealed at the September 12 event.

Cook said, "Today, we're taking it to the next level, making a huge leap. We have some very exciting news to tell you about iPhone," said Cook. "We're here to talk about the iPhone. We launched the first iPhone in 2007, and what an incredible breakthrough it was for the entire industry. Each and every year we introduce new versions with new features... each time setting the gold standard"

And the name is?

The iPhone 5. Cook says, " it is an absolute jewel. It is the most beautiful product we have ever made, bar none."

Price

The iPhone 5 is available for the same price as the iPhone 4S. $199 for 16GB. $299 for 32GB, $399 for 64GB with contracts.

The iPhone 4 is now free on contract and the 4S is $99.

Finally, When can you get it?

Pre orders start Friday the 14th and shipping starts on September 21 in the U.S., Canada, the UK, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

20 more countries will be added next month.

The Design

It is the thinnest and lightest iPhone to date being 7.6 mm thick and 18 percent thinner than previous models. Weighs 112 grams. 20% lighter than the 4S.

"So, iPhone 5. It is made entirely of glass and aluminum. It's designed and built to an exacting level of standard unlike anything we, or anyone in our industry, have made before."

Color

There will be a white and black version. The white has a raw aluminum back and the black has a black anodized backing.

The Screen

The new phone will have five rows of icons plus four shortcuts on the bottom. It will also boast a 326ppi Retina display be 4-inches and have 1136 x 640 resolution. It's the same width as the iPhone 4s but taller.

The touch will be integrated into the display so it is thinner and sharper with less glare in the sun.

Battery Life

The phone's battery will have 8 hours of 3G or LTE talk time or browsing and 10 hours on WiFi browsing.

"What [our team] has done is not only match but exceed the battery life of the iPhone 4S."

Camera and Video

The new iPhone boasts an 8-megapixel sensor, a 5-element lens and f/2.4 aperture. It is the Same as the iPhone 4S but thinner.

There is also a dynamic low light mode which evaluates nearby pixels for better low light performance. There is also a new image processor to reduce noise and includes a new filter for better color-matching.

A new feature called 'Shared Photo Streams' where you can share photos with your network and comment.

Panoramic shots will also be available as you can sweep the screen vertically for panorama.

"While the camera is amazing for taking pictures, it's also a lot better for video as well," Cook and Schiller add.

The front facing camera is now 720 p and backside illuminated. It has better video stabilization and facial recognition.

"For the first time ever we've increased the size of the display. By making the screen taller, but not wider, you can still comfortably use it with one hand."

Audio

The audio system has three microphones on the front, bottom and back now. The speakers have a 5-magnet transducer which is 3 more than previous models.

There is also a "wideband audio" which makes your voice sound more natural.

Connector

The new dock is 80 percent smaller. Many of the changes will be available wirelessly with Bluetooth for audio, WiFi for AirPlay or syncing to itunes. iCloud will allow all download content wirelessly.

iOS 6

There is a new Maps application which will allow you to zoom in and out and rotate. There is also a built in search engine to look at local points of interest which are at 100 million, which is Yelp integrated.

Navigation, routing and directions will still be available from Siri.

Flyover uses satellite imagery wrapped around the 3D map of a city.

Passbook which already has Delta and Starwood hotels on board as well as other airlines will allow passengers to us it as their boarding pass for flights.

The iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, 3GS, new iPad, iPad 2 and iPod touch all are getting iOS 6 which is avalable on September 19.

New advancements include, marking people as VIP and when you get an email from the it will go to a separate inbox. Flagging messages for follow up is now available as well.
