Instagram is taking a step further by outdoing Pinterest with a new feature that will allow users to save and revisit pictures that they have liked. Instagrammers can now bookmark posts directly from their feed. It's said to be the one thing that separated the apps from each other, and is sure to get Pinterest developers seething.

According to The Sun, users can even put their saved pictures into dedicated folders to organize recipe inspirations from workout tips. A blog post adds: "When you stumble upon a funny video you want to remember, a new outfit you like or even inspiration for an upcoming vacation, you can now keep track of favorite posts right from your profile."

CNET adds that this is the latest feature Instagram has borrowed from other social networks. Its Stories feature, which launched in August, lets users showcase photos and videos for 24 hours, something similar to Snapchat Stories. Furthermore, Instagram took inspiration from Facebook Live and Twitter Periscope, and plans to release a new tool this week that lets users broadcast live to all their followers. However, this may be available in the United States only for now.

As of writing, a bookmark icon appears under every post. Clicking it will allow users to see all the posts they have saved, which are also only visible to them. It comes after an update that permits users self-destruct their pictures and videos, similarly to Snapchat. It's the most current in a raft of new features after it was blamed of promoting cyber bullying. Fortunately, those who are afraid of mean comments have the power to switch them off for individual posts. Meanwhile, bookmarks are part of Instagram version 10.2, available for iOS in the Apple App Store, for Android in Google Play and for Windows 10 in the Windows Store.
