Some people go on a quest to find themselves, but one woman discovered that she was literally trying to find herself last weekend. A tourist in Iceland spent the weekend helping out in a search for a missing person before she realized she was the person that everyone was looking for.

The woman was one of several tourists on a bus tour of Eldgja's volcanic region, a popular destination for tour buses in southern Iceland. The bus driver noticed that one of the tourists didn't return to the bus. He waited about an hour for the missing person to return before notifying police.

Search and rescue crews and even members of the tour set out on foot to try to find the missing woman who was described as an Asian female, about 5 foot 2, who spoke good English and was wearing dark clothing.

The bus driver had made a mistake when counting the passengers on the bus. However he wasn't completely wrong in not recognizing that the person that everyone was looking for was already on the bus. The woman didn't realize that she was the person everyone was looking for either.

After the volcano tour, the woman changed her clothing to freshen up before getting back on the bus, so the driver and apparently none of the other passengers didn't realize that the woman on the bus was the one everyone was looking for.

About 50 people tried to find the woman, including the woman herself. The search was called off at 3 a.m. when the woman realized that she may have been the person that everyone was looking for. She notified police and explained the misunderstanding, the Reykjavik Grapevine reports.

Iceland is a popular tourist attraction for volcano enthusiasts as there are about 100 volcanoes in the area. Earlier this year, tour company Discover the World, launched a special package that allows tourists to go inside a volcano by a cable car.
