The long anticipated iPhone 5 release date has been announced.  A report shows that Apple's iPhone 5 will be released in September and photos of the new iPhone are already circling the internet.

As reported by iMore, reliable sources have announced that the new iPhone will have its debut during a special event on Wednesday, September 12. The new iPhone will be released and available for purchase just 9 days later on September 21. iMore also accurately predicted the release date of the iPad 3.

There are also rumors that an iPad mini tablet will make its debut during the event.

Rumors are already swirling about what the iPhone 5 will be capable of and alleged photos of the new phone have been released.  The site 9to5Mac uploaded photos of what they say is the new iPhone 5. They say that the new iPhone will have a 3.99-inch display with an 1136 x 640-resolution, making it taller than the iPhone 4S. The back of the phone is covered in metal. The headphone jack is on the bottom of the phone instead of the top and the dock connector is smaller with only 19 pins instead of the classic 30.

Since it is an upgrade, the new iPhone is rumored to have an improved processor and new graphics.

A Chinese website, iLabFactory also published photos of the supposed iPhone 5. Using photos of various parts from the new phone, they came up with a complete picture of what the new iPhone may look like. You can see their photos here.

The current iPhone 4S made its debut on October 4 and was released on October 14. It was released just 16 months after the iPhone 3GS. However if the new release date rumors are true, the new iPhone 5 will come out just 11 months after the iPhone 4S was released.

In addition to releasing the iPhone 5 and a possible iPad mini, Apple plans to release the new iOS 6 operating system for the iPad and iPhone. The new system will include Apple's new maps app, Facebook integration, and a new  Passbook app which organizes passes, tickets and coupons into one app.
