Tennessee running back Jalen Hurd reportedly informed teammates during a meeting on Sunday that he plans to transfer to another team.

Also, on Monday, former Tennessee wide receiver and radio host Jayson Swain said on his program, The Swain Event Monday, that Hurd reportedly intended to leave the program.

"Unless something crazy flips in the next couple of hours, he is done," Swain said of Hurd. "That's what I'm hearing."

Swain later mentioned again Hurd's decision during an appearance on the "Cole Cubelic Show."

To set the records straight, volunteers coach Butch Davis confirmed on Monday that Hurd really does plan to transfer to another team.

"Jalen has informed me that he intends to transfer, and I support him on that," Davis said. "I'm very, very thankful for everything that he's done for our football program, but it's all about our football program and our football team and moving forward from this point forward."

Hurd's plans to transfer were first announced by Jimmy Hyams on the radio station WNML in Knoxville, Tennessee. The radio station reported that Hurd, who is 6-foot-4, wants to switch positions and will try to play wide receiver or tight end at a new school.

Hyams claimed that Hurd has been upset at Tennessee's zone-read scheme.

The sources close to the running back also said that Hurd have been saying for a year or more that he wanted to play in an I-formation offense.

According to ESPN, Hurd, a junior, suffered an injury-plagued season and wasn't able to play in the second half of Saturday's 24-21 loss to South Carolina.

Saturday Down South adds that Hurd currently has 2,635 rushing yards, which ranks sixth in Tennessee history and trails Travis Henry's school record of 3,078 by 443. The Hendersonville native has led the Vols in rushing yards during each of his first two seasons.

Furthermore, Hurd has 67 career receptions for 492 yards and six touchdowns.
