It is expected that many people will be going out on Memorial Day but if there is a certain day of the week that is very busy, that would be the weekend. But you have to make sure that you already know everything before you go on a trip.

Based on a recent AAA survey, 55 percent of Americans are most likely going to take a road trip this Memorial day because of the lower price of gas. About 89 percent of travelers in the U.S. are traveling by car while nearly 7 percent will take the plane, Fox46 reported.

Aside from the cheap gas, there are also lower airfares which are about 26 percent cheaper during Memorial Day. So, expect more travelers indeed and even a longer TSA line.

Because of this, there are certain things that you need to do.

1. Leave early so you have plenty of time to get to your destination. Expect traffic on the streets as you drive and long queues at the airport. To avoid delays, start your trip early. Airlines are even urging people to arrive at the airport at least one to two hours earlier.

2.Pack lightly. You can save yourself from hassle if you have one carry-on bag. Imagine that the airport or the bus terminal is so full of people and you are there dragging bags with you. That would totally be stressful and tiring at the same time. If you are flying, you can avoid additional fees and the long lines if you do not have a checked-in baggage, Time suggested.

3. Check local destinations. You don't have to spend a lot in order to have a fun Memorial Day Weekend. You can just look for local destinations to visit which can be equally entertaining when you are flying to a far place abroad.
