It would be nice to bring the kids on a road trip so that they can see and experience new things. But we all know that it is not easy to go out with kids because it means you have to look after them all the time and you have to make sure that they will not feel bored. Here are some tips to help you prepare for your road trip with kids.

1.Prepare ahead. Give yourself a lot of time for prepare. One week before the road trip would be ideal. You don't want to rush in preparing things especially for your kids because you might forget something. Pack suitcases ahead of time or start packing little by little. Create a checklist of the things you need to buy and you need to pack. This way, you will get everything that you need.

2. Pack food and drinks. Bring enough food and drinks. It would be wise to pack healthier foods to eat but you can also bring with you some junk food. Bring a cooler so you can keep some food and drinks cool. It would be very refreshing to get a cold drink while on a road trip. For adults, Huffington Post recommends to bring a thermos with coffee in it or to bring bottled Frappuccino drinks.

3. Charge all devices. Your kids will surely look for their gadgets and devices while on a trip. So make sure that their tablets, ipads, kindle readers and gaming devices are full-charged. You also have to bring extra batteries and don't forget to bring the chargers.

4. Have road trip games for kids. PBS Parents has a list of suggestions for different games that kids can do during a road trip. That includes "The Alphabet Hunt," "That’s not something we see every day!” and others. This sounds old school but it is a good way to keep the kids entertained and to let them look outside and observe the things around them while on travel.

5. Don't forget to pack enough for emergencies. You do not know when some emergencies happen. So make sure that you bring with you an emergency first aid kit, clothes, hand sanitizer, wipes, extra diapers/pull-ups, plastic bags, paper towels, toilet paper and some medicines that you might need.

Also, don't forget to take bathroom breaks because your kids would need that. Stop from time to time to take pictures in scenic views. You can also bring some picnic chairs with you so that you can eat on beautiful areas that you can spot along the way. For sure, your kids will have fun during your long road trip. And, let them take some rest and some nap as well so that they will remain happy and active.
