Baby Rescued Lehigh River - On Sunday afternoon, a 19-year-old woman tossed her little boy over Hamilton Street Bridge and into the Lehigh River in Allentown, PA. The young mother, identified as Johnesha Perry, and her baby were rescued from Lehigh River after witnesses reported seeing Perry throw the 1-year-old boy and then jump from the bridge, WFMZ-TV reported

According to NBC, witnesses saw Perry pushing the baby rescued from Lehigh River in his stroller when she suddenly stopped. She took the boy from his carriage, threw him from the bridge 52 feet above the banks of the Lehigh River, and then jumped in after him.

Police reportedly found Perry conscious on the river bank after arriving moments later.

NBC Philadelphia reported that in 911 calls obtained by NBC10, dispatchers provided locations on the mother and the baby rescued from Lehigh River.

According to Capt. William Reinik, police officers found the baby about 700 metres downstream. They rescued the baby by giving him CPR, who was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in critical condition. The baby rescued from Lehigh River and his 19-year-old mother are in serious condition but are expected to survive.

After the baby was rescued from Lehigh River, police are now investigating the incident as an apparent attempted murder-suicide, reported the Associated Press. The teenage mom is now facing attempted homicide charges and two counts of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. It remains unclear why the mom threw her child over the bridge or what her motive was for jumping in afterward, according to Pop Sugar.
