Wayne Community College Shooting - The 20-year-old suspect for the death of a longtime employee at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, North Carolina on Monday morning has been caught. The suspect who shot the employee to death was taken into custody early Tuesday in Florida, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.

According to investigators, the suspect of the Wayne Community College shooting, Kenneth Morgan Stancil III, did the crime by walking into the Wayne Learning Center shortly before 8 a.m. while carrying a long gun. He then went to the third-floor print shop and fired a single shot which killed 18-year Wayne Community College print shop manager Ron Lane.

The Wayne Learning Center is a building inside the campus of Wayne Community College.

According to college officials, the victim of the Wayne Community College shooting was a longtime employee. Stancil III, the suspected gunman, was a previous work-study student who was a former student at the school. He had also been working in the print shop and apparently had been fired by Lane, according to CNN.

Authorities have not identified how long Stancil had attended the school before the Wayne Community College shooting.

Stancil's arrest occurred at about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday in Daytona Beach. Deputies from the Volusia County Beach Patrol reportedly spotted Stancil sleeping on the beach and approached him for violating an ordinance prohibiting sleeping at the beach.

The 20-year-old had a knife on him when he was arrested. He was held for further identification. Later on, Stancil provided officers his real name and he was then taken into custody without incident, according to ABC 11.

Early Tuesday, Stancil was held without bond in the Volusia County Jail. As of the current moment, Wayne County officials are working to have him extradited back to North Carolina to decide his fate for committing the Wayne Community College shooting.

According to Wayne County Sheriff Larry Pierce, the Wayne Community College shooting wasn't random. However, Pierce did not release a possible motive for the crime. College officials also have no idea of any other connection Lane and Stancil has other than as student and employee.

After the Wayne Community College shooting, officers reportedly swarmed the campus, locked down buildings and conducted a room-by-room search.

Because of Lane's death after the Wayne Community College shooting, the school's administrators have set aside an area at the center of campus as memorial, reported WRAL. Meanwhile, Lane's family has created a fundraising campaign to cover his funeral expenses. To donate, click here.
