One screen is not enough for the creators of YotaPhone 2 so they introduced a new innovation that displays images from both sides of the phone.

The second version of YotaPhone featured a screen on its rear, which made it "one of the most intriguing devices on the market," according to The Verge.

The Russian-based YotaPhone device was recently launched this week in London. Yota Devices, the mind behind the YotaPhones, has implemented the boxy look of its first YotaPhone with a curved design, which is common to many modern smartphones, with the addition of a second screen on the back of its newest handset.

The device sports a full HD 5-inch AMOLED display and a 4.7-inch Electronic Paper Display. Unlike the E-Ink screen featured on the previous YotaPhone, the EPD is full touch, which gives the device more functionality. The rear screen is always on to display important notifications to users.

Furthermore, Yota Devices implemented a feature called YotaSnap, which allows the rear screen to display an image even when the device's battery has been all used up. Users can set a default image beforehand for the phone to display to rid the users of having to navigate through the gallery when the device is about to die, TechRadar reported.

Users can also use the second screen to launch YotaApps, which includes chess, checkers, sudoku and YotaRSS. Company CEO Vlad Martynov has announced a Twitter integration during YotaPhone 2's release. The app selection is expected to grow as time goes by.

Although Yota Devices has introduced an innovative idea for mobile devices, the e-paper display is currently slow. It also displays faint traces of images and text which stays on display for a while until it's refreshed. This is expected since the rear screen was meant to be used for battery emergencies only.

Besides the back-to-back screen feature, YotaPhone 2 includes a 2.2GHx Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, 8MP rear camera and 2.1MP front camera.

YotaPhone 2 is currently sold at £555 in UK, which is more expensive than an Xperia Z3 plus a Kindle or an Xperia Z3 Compact, according to The Verge.

The first YotaPhone was released in 2013. YotaPhone 2 has been out since Dec. 4 and has been currently sold in over 20 countries.
