Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott has given point guard Jeremy Lin the green light to be more aggressive on the offensive of the floor, as he tries to modify the Asian-American into a potent combo guard.

With the Lakers still searching for answers on how to improve their lineup, Scott finally devised a plan to make the 26-year old Lin more aggressive as a scoring tool.

"Really make quick decisions, move the ball. If you got a shot, take your shot. If you got a drive, take your drive," Scott said about the role he wants Lin to play via Lakers Nation correspondent Serena Winters. "First half was a little bit more trying to search for me, second half was searching for his teammates."

After a rough start, Lin has steadily improved his statistical line (12.1 points and 4.1 assists) and steadily found more opportunities for him to score as the season progresses.

Nevertheless, Scott believed Lin could become an even more valuable offensive weapon for the Lakers, if he continues to stay aggressive in finding his shots. And the Lakers head coach thinks Lin has to embrace the role as an off-guard in some occasions.

Lin, who played the shooting guard position during his first two years at Harvard, seemed to be comfortable in his new role with the Lakers, as he contributed 17 points on 8-for-15 field goal shooting in a 101-94 loss to the Denver Nuggets last Sunday.

Scott's latest ploy to empower Lin might work well for superstar Kobe Bryant as well. The Lakers superstar has been logging over 35 minutes per game since returning from two major surgeries - a stat that really worries the Lakers head coach and could force him to cut down Black Mamba's playing time. With Bryant sitting on the bench, Lin could play either the point guard or off-guard position depending on what opposing defense presents to them.

The Lakers, who suffered back-to-back losses at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks and the Nuggets, will plunge back to action against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday at Staples Center.
