Los Angeles Lakers point guard Jeremy Lin is suffering with a sore right foot, making his availability questionable in Sunday's home game against the Charlotte Hornets. NBA senior writer Kevin Ding of Bleacher Report posted on his Twitter account on Friday.

Lin, who averaged 10.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game this season, was spotted taking some pain reliever to keep him playing on Tuesday's 112-106 loss to the Phoenix Suns.

According to Ding, Lin's latest injury may not prevent him from playing the Lakers' upcoming game against the Hornets, but it would certainly impact the point guard's playing time.

"He's not expected to miss any time, He was spotted popping a pill on the Lakers bench in Tuesday's loss to the Suns, but the Lakers don't play again until Sunday," according to Ding via Twitter.

"The Lakers can't afford another injury, and it would be especially devastating if Lin were to miss any time. Ronnie Price and Jordan Clarkson are behind him on the depth chart."

The Lakers are still winless after their first five games of the season are expected to face tough opposition this coming week against the Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Hornets, and the San Antonio Spurs.

While Lin hasn't been the player many experts expected him to be in purple-and-gold jersey, Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant is still hopeful that his backcourt partner will eventually turn into a tough-minded player he can rely on in pressure-packed situations.

"Lin was being more aggressive and taking shots. I think the biggest thing for him to learn is to play relentlessly. The most important thing [for my teammates] is that they understand the relentlessness they have to play with," Bryant said of Lin in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

"I'll go out there and I'll leave on the floor everything, and compete and not be fearful of criticism or fearful of not playing well or missing shots. That's the same way I want the guys to play, Jeremy in particular, because he's a really good player. He's just getting used to playing with that kind of effort and attitude."

So far, Lin's best performance was against the Los Angeles Clippers, where he recorded 17 points, 9 assists and 4 rebounds against All-Star point guard Chris Paul.
