Maria Shriver was reportedly scrubbed off from the official portrait of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Back when it was done, the artist, with Schwarzenegger's permission, of course, opted to add a personal touch. Schwarzenegger was depicted in this piece of art wearing a lapel pin that featured the face of his wife, Maria Shriver.

Clay Russell, a former aide of Schwarzenegger, said, "It was actually a cute gesture when he had it done."

Sadly, however, their marriage soon disintegrated and Schwarzenegger decided to leave the Governor's office in January of 2011. This series of events in his life prompted him to make a huge change in his portrait. Soon enough, the face of Maria Shriver was erased.

When the painting was recently unveiled in the Capitol just earlier this week, there was a highly noticeable blemished spot where the pin used to be. Russell commented, "It's too bad they couldn't remove it without creating a smudge that got a lot of attention."

A tour guide at the state Capitol in Sacramento told Page Six, "Whoever touched it up did not do a very good job. It was softball sized, right there on his left lapel."

The removal of Maria Shriver's face from the portrait was actually first reported by the New York Post. Schwarzenegger's side was asked to comment on this matter, but his spokesperson has not returned any phone call to date.

Additionally, his office has also refused to return any of Page Six's requests for a comment on the matter that Schwarzenegger's has plans to run for President of the United States. Schwarzenegger was actually born in Austria, and it has been reported last year that he was planning a presidential run, which, in turn, included a challenge to the Constitutional requirement of birth in order for him to become President.

Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver has actually been married for 25 long years when she found out that he had secretly fathered a son with someone from their household staff, one who has at their service for a relatively long time.
