A man from South Carolina has been charged with murder for the deaths of his own five children. The children, ages 1 to 8, were found wrapped in garbage bags along the highway of Alabama. The suspect has been named as Timothy Ray Jones Jr. and is currently detained in Mississippi.

On September 3, the children were reported to be missing. It was not until Tuesday that the missing South Carolina kids were found, all wrapped in individual garbage bags. It was none other than the father identified as Timothy Ray Jones Jr. that led the detectives to the site of the bodies.

Timothy Ray Jones Jr. was initially detained at Smith County for a check point located near Raleigh, Mississippi due to drunk driving. The deputy noticed Jones became increasingly agitated when questioned about the odor coming from inside the vehicle, a Cadillac Escalade. A street drug called Spice, a synthetic form of marijuana along with chemicals used to produce methamphetamine were found in the vehicle. An investigator from the sheriff's office was called where they had found what appeared to be muriatic acid, bleach, body fluids and blood.

A background check was then done on Timothy Ray Jones Jr. Jones was reported to be wanted in South Carolina "regarding the welfare concern of his children." On Monday, the FBI had started a search for the missing children and were finally found decomposing in plastic bags.

"I'm sure everybody wants to know the answers. It's just a terrible tragedy," said Timothy Jones Sr., Jones' father, in a phone interview to The Associated Press from Amory, Mississippi.

The motive for the murders has yet to be revealed. As for Jones' ex-wife, the mother of the five children is distraught and under immense shock.

The bodies of the five kids are currently in South Carolina. Names of the victims will not be released until an autopsy is performed. The autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
