The insane amount of texts and calls that barraged the woman followed the couple's breakup in 2011. Talk about not getting over an ex.

The man jailed for texting ex is 33 years old, and according to a report by the French news agency Agence France-Presse, he harassed his ex by phoning her about 73 times a day on average in the span of 10 months.

Because of the obsessive texting and calling, the man was sentenced to 10 months in jail, six of which were suspended, according to The Huffington Post.

Fox News reports that the judge also issued the man jailed for texting ex a 1,000 Euro fine, which is about $1300, whilst also ordering the defendant to undergo psychiatric treatment.

Lawyers in the case also told AFP that the man has been banned from any contact with his ex-girlfriend.

According to the AFP, the man jailed for texting ex came from Rhone in southern France. Apparently, he already previously accepted responsibility for countless phone calls and text messages. He also accepted an earlier demand to cease contact with his ex.

The man had been hospitalized in the past for depression, according to multiple reports. Because his girlfriend broke it off with him in 2011, he struggled to recover hence the obsessive texting and calling.

The Huffington Post reports that the man jailed for texting ex has said that he only wanted to get in contact with his ex-girlfriend because he was looking for compensation or acknowledgement for renovations he had done on their apartment.

He reportedly told the court in Lyon Thursday, per France 24, "At the time, my logic was that until she returns the money ... or at least says thank you, I would not stop the calls."

Manuella Spee, the victim's attorney said via Radio France Internationale, "She tried to block her line, but he phoned her parents instead and at her workplace." Spee added that his ex had suffered a lot."

Spee told Radio France that the calls and texts persisted, which amounted to up to 100 a day.

After the woman filed charges, Spee said the "police noted over 100 incoming calls during the 90 minutes it took to file charges."

Eventually, the harassment of the man jailed for texting ex stopped. The 32-year-old ex, who is also A teache, finally thanked the man during a meeting arranged by a mediator. After that, all contact ceased.

Fox News reports that on Thursday, the defendant told the court, "I tell myself, with hindsight, that it was stupid."

Man jailed for texting ex is now planning to return to school to train to be a legal assistant. He added that he had a "passion for writing", reports the AFP. Meanwhile, Spee said the victim has since "enjoyed a fantastic summer time, with no phone calls, and hopes it will last."
