English Premier League powerhouse Arsenal is reportedly pushing to sign Paris Saint-Germain goal machine Edinson Cavani, as striker Joel Campbell looks to join Benfica before the transfer window shuts down, according to Caught Offside.

Cavani, who joined PSG from Napoli on a French League record of €64.5 million transfer fee last season, is reportedly targeted by several elite teams in the EPL, notably the Gunners, who looks to further add firepower to their already potent striking force of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

"Arsenal will look to push through a move for Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani as a replacement for young striker Joel Campbell, who is closing in on a move to Portuguese giants Benfica," according to the Metro via Caught Offside.

Despite a subpar performance with Uruguay at the FIFA World Cup, Cavani's name remains hot on transfer rumors mills, as several elite ball clubs want to get his service. Arsenal is believed to be the favorite to land Cavani, who recorded 25 goals in all leagues last season.

Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger's direly wants to have the service of the Uruguayan's goal machine because he fits in his system alongside other talented strikers.

"Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is still looking for new faces to bring into the squad ahead of Monday's transfer deadline and could move for the Uruguayan ace having been a long time admirer of the player," according to Caught Offside reporter Steven Green.

"The reports claims that current Gunners star Joel Campbell could then wrap up his move to the Portuguese capital this weekend should Wenger have any joy in convincing the French giants to let Cavani leave."

On the other hand, the Gunners are looking to dispatch Costa Rican striker Joel Campbell to Benfica, if they manage to sign Cavani. Although Campbell has been playing for other teams on loan for the past three seasons, Campbell's stock skyrocketed following an excellent performance at the FIFA World Cup, helping Costa Rica reach the quarterfinal round for the first time in tournament history.
