Chelsea Clinton has just confirmed that she has decided to leave her job as a correspondent for NBC News. As she has revealed, this decision was brought on by her intentions to place more focus on her mom duties.

Chelsea Clinton has been a special news correspondent for NBC News for three years now. However, now that she and her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, are expecting their first child, the former first daughter Chelsea Clinton has decided to step off that position.

Chelsea Clinton informed PEOPLE in a statement that she came up with this decision "to continue focusing on my work at the Clinton Foundation and, as Marc and I look forward to welcoming our first child." She also opened up about the highlights of her job with NBC News.

Chelsea Clinton have been known for delivering feel-good stories to the public, stories that talked about "remarkable people and organizations making a profound difference." She mentioned that she thinks the best highlights of her job as a news correspondent was meeting different types of people, such as Annette Dove, whose famous TOPPS program that is centralized in Pine Bluff, Arkansas "continues to fill the hunger, education, and safety gaps for kids of all ages in her community."

Chelsea Clinton also took some time to thank her loyal viewers who have responded to her stories by funding the programs that she, herself, has featured.

According to NBC, Dove's TOPPS program got to raise approximately $300,000 after Chelsea Clinton made her report. Alex Wallace, the Senior Vice President of NBC News said, "Chelsea's storytelling inspired people across the country and showcased the real power we have as individuals to make a difference in our communities. While she will be missed, we look forward to working with her in the future."

Chelsea Clinton now holds a PhD from Oxford. She first came to NBC News with only little journalism experience and her reported salary of $600,000 have been said to have raised a lot of eyebrows in the industry.
