US surveillance flights have been reportedly launched in Syria after the approval of President Barack Obama.

It seems like the president is already trying to obtain more concrete data regarding the territorial domains of the Islamic State militants before a possible military action is initiated. The said move approved by the president is said to be in a confidential matter that further details about the said action is being kept within the premises of the palace and with those individuals involved. Tension is definitely growing between the country and of the militants who just recently killed an American journalist, James Foley.

Reports recently surfaced regarding the US government launching surveillance flights over Syria. It was said that two unnamed officials from the government confirmed that the said action has been already approved while another official revealed on Tuesday that it has already begun. Although President Obama is not yet taking any military actions against the Islamic militant group, BBC reports that Pentagon officials are already advising the president to consider such action in order to threaten the group which already killed hundred thousands of people.

If President Obama permits, airstrikes for the rebel-controlled territory is said to be on the top list. If US surveillance flights could gain substantial information regarding the rebel group in Syria, BBC reports that one of the military options to be pursued is to target IS leaders around northern Syrian city of Raqqa, as well as in the east near the Iraqi border. Such preparatory action executed by the American government is also believed to promote the welfare of the American citizens who are in great threat.

The execution of Foley which was captured in video and spread in social media sites is believed to be not the last killing of the group. The Islamic militants who beheaded Foley already warned that they will be killing more US citizens as a revenge for the air strikes against their fighters in Iraq. Before the US launched the surveillance flights over Syria, they have already launched air strikes in Iraq earlier this month.
