Three authorities have been wounded during the New York City shooting incident which took place on Monday around 1p.m. in West Village neighborhood of Manhattan after they were in pursuit of a 32 year-old wanted child molester.

Law enforcement has been alerted after receiving a tip that a longtime wanted person will be somewhere in the city. Charles Mozdir who is working in a Greenwich Village smoke shop has been wanted for his crime after he failed to appear in court on June 15, 2012. It has been two years after that the authorities received a tip from someone claiming that the wanted individual will be in the said spot in a certain time.

According to the report from Wall Street Journal, an NYPD detective went inside the shop under covered as he wore as he plain shirt and he noticed that Mozdir was working alone behind the counter and that he even looked completely different from his previous appearance. A shooting has then occurred between Mozdir and the New York City authorities when officials entered the shop wearing a bullet proof vest. A detective has been shot twice, one in the lower part of his vest and was lucky to survive from the second shot which hit him in the chest over his vest.

Two U.S. marshals have been also wounded during the encounter while Mozdir lay on the ground dead. Authorities have also recovered a .32-caliber gun from the wanted suspect. The 32 year-old suspect has been charged with five counts of lewd acts on children younger than 14 and another count for attempting to dissuade a witness.

It has been also reported that Mozdir posted a $250, 000 bail on June 9, 2012; however when he failed to show up on court he was issued with a warrant of arrest and a $1 million bail. All of the wounded officials during the New York City shooting incident are currently in a stable condition.
