A Utah car crash 2014 has occurred in Southeastern Utah Sunday, July 6, leaving five people involved dead and two others still in critical condition, KUTV first reported.

In one of the busiest weekends this season, a tragic Utah car crash 2014 has happened on State Road 191 north of Monticello, the Utah Highway Patrol has revealed.

The Utah car crash was reportedly due to a botched overtaking gesture of a van driver from a sports car.

Troopers have confirmed that when the van driver attempted to pass the sports car, the vehicle accidentally slammed the latter, leading to the tragic accident that is now referred to as the Utah car crash 2014.

Following the accidental crash, the two people riding the sports car were killed while three people in the van were left dead.

Two other victims of the Utah car crash 2014 have reportedly been rushed to a hospital, where they were pronounced in critical condition and are currently receiving treatment.

The Utah car crash 2014 accident came in time with the busiest and most dangerous driving weekends in the entire country: the Fourth of July weekend.

Motorists usually hit the road and the U.S. highways partly sober after the non-stop celebrations over Independence Day.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the Utah car crash 2014 happened at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday while other specific details such as the identities of the victims have not yet been revealed as of late.

As safety precaution to the Utah car crash 2014, the Utah Highway Patrol has ordered for the closing of both lanes of traffic on U.S. 191.

"SR 191 closed both directions at mm 81 due to serious crash. More details coming," the Highway Patrol said on its official Twitter account.

Although the case has been dubbed the Utah car crash 2014 case, this is actually not the first Fourth of July accident to happen over the weekend.

On Friday, July 4, a woman and her two kids reportedly died in a similar Utah car crash in Tooele County.

The mother's SUV reportedly collided with a truck driving in the wrong lane of interstate 80. The woman's husband, who was believed to be the one driving the SUV as well as the driver of the truck were declared in serious condition on Saturday, but no updates have been released as of writing.
