Action Park reopening  might have taken many by surprise, but the surprise is probably coupled with elation for the park's old patrons and thrill seekers. Action Park shut down almost 20 years ago, but now the Action Park reopening will show the world that it hasn't changed - for the most part. Reports say that patrons can still enjoy the same, even improved bloodcurdling rides inside the theme park, but with heavier safety measures.

Action Park in Vernon, New Jersey opened its gates to the public in 1978, but closed its 35 acres of land in 1996 after a series of fatalities, injuries and bad press while it ran from 1978 to 1996.

According to The Inquisitr, Action Park was eventually sold to a massive resort chain in the mid-1990s which rebranded it as Mountain Creek. Lawsuits were reported to have been brought against the owners after six deaths.

Despite the shutdown of Action Park New Jersey and the number of deaths it brought, the park's reputation apparently only grew. Thrill seekers just want an Action Park reopening and a taste of the "world's most dangerous amusement park."

Action Park had only three main attractions back then - The Alpine Center, Waterworld and Motorworld. With its reputation as literally the "world's most dangerous" theme park, these attractions were nicknamed Accident Park, Class Action Park and Traction Park, according to Mashable.

According to one survivor even before Action Park reopening recently, his experience on the Alpine Slide "was essentially a giant track to rip people's skin off, disguised as a children's ride." Another visitor added, "I was there three times when I was 9 or 10 - twice I left in an ambulance."

Past visitors might not be in total agreement over Action Park reopening especially as they described it as "a lawless Neverland where the park's staff never stopped or yelled at anyone."

Last year, Mashable said they posted a short documentary about Action Park which had response that blew them away. Apparently, old patrons wanted an Action Park reopening despite its dangerous nature. If anything, old visitors are nostalgic over the park's treacherous rides.

It seems that the owners of the Vernon, New Jersey-based park wanted to bring back the nostalgia more than anything with Action Park reopening this year. According to reports, its operating once again under its original owners and name.

The Inquisitr reports that the Action Park reopening is originally because of a 2013 viral video called "The Most Insane Amusement Park Ever." Because of this, the park's owners were inspired to bring back the resort, and with added thrills. Apparently, they realized that people want and miss the happiness the park brought them as kids.

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker even took to Twitter to express his feelings about the Action Park reopening. He said that though he still has scars from his last visit years ago, he said, 'I so want to go again.'

With Action Park reopening, an improved park reportedly features some of the original attractions of the old one, plus a new Zero G water slide. The new and improved Action Park reportedly added modifications and safety features to the rides to pacify safety authorities and avoid any deaths. The Colorado River Ride now has patrons wearing face masks for collision protection.

With Action Park reopening, lifeguards are now seemingly more attentive and ready their whistles in case park rules are broken.

The new Zero G water slide allegedly cost $1 million to build, which probably means it is safer for visitors. The water slide is what the park calls "the world's tallest double-looping waterside," which features a 100 foot drop.

According to Park President Bill Benneyan regarding the Action Park reopening, 'In three decades, the industry is different, the regulations are different, the safety training is different.'

Owner and son of the park's founder Andy Mulvihill also had an interview with The New York Post regarding Action Park reopening. He said, 'I don't get approached by people telling me what a terrible place it was. The strength of that passion far outweighed the negative things. We're back, we're in control, and we are gonna make this place real fun again.'

Action Park reopening now offers revelers with a place to go to this summer for an adventure-filled and action-packed one.
