Top 10 Snobbiest Cities in the U.S., Pasadena, CA Takes Top Spot

What is the snobbiest city in the United States? Pasadena, California according to a new ranking and Pasadena isn't the only one in the state.

According to a list compiled by Movoto, six of the top ten snobbiest cities in the U.S. are located in California. The other four are scattered around the country. Some might come as a surprise.

Movoto, a nationwide online real estate database, compiled a list of the snobbiest cities by considering a variety of factors such as median home price, percent of the population with a college degree and country clubs per capita. It also looked at factors like private school per capita, performing arts per capita, art galleries per capita and county clubs per capita.  Also, how many fast-food chains a city had came into play.

Pasadena was named the snobbiest. Pasadena is known for the Rose Bowl, many art galleries, private school and even its own symphony orchestra.

The nationwide online real estate database compiled the list from a variety of factors including median home price, per cent of population with a college degree and country clubs per capita. It also has the fifth-highest median home price in the country, as well as many performance and arts venues and country clubs, making it "the snobbiest."

Coming in second was Thousand Oaks, California. Thousand Oaks has the lowest number of fast food restaurants per capita of any city in the top ten list and the third-highest median home prices and household incomes.

In third was Alexandria, Virginia because the Washington D.C. suburb has the third-highest number of college grads and the second-most art galleries per capita. It was also seventh-highest for household incomes.

The fourth snobbiest city was the Chicago suburb of Naperville, Illinois as residents earn the second-highest incomes and more than 66 percent hold college degrees. It was seventh-highest for the number of country clubs and has even made several best places to live lists.

In fifth place was Napa Valley outpost Santa Rosa. The biggest city in wine country has the outrageous median home prices and incomes and it is home to several fine dining restaurants. It is also seventh for the number of performing arts centers in the area and it is also home to many art galleries.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida came in at sixth due to its high number of country clubs, art galleries and performing arts venues.

Three California cities, including Glendale, Sunnyvale and Fullerton, came in seventh, eighth and ninth due to high incomes and high home prices.

Rounding out the list was Eugene, Oregon due to its high number of performing arts centers, art galleries and fancy restaurants.
